WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH

YSYF will be hosting our Women’s History Month Campaign to spotlight powerful/influential woman in Ghanaian history. Today we commemorate Akua Akyaa Nkrumah.

Akua Akyaa Nkrumah was a prominent environmental scientist, researcher and blogger of “Green Ghanian”, a blog outlining sanitation and green politics. In her lifetime, she also founded “Eco-planners”, an organisation that provided post-occasion (or events) cleaning services. Her initiative included equipping event organisers with the tools and methods to reduce their environmental footprint. While many in Ghana fought for higher sanitization standards, Akua is regarded as one of the key individuals who raised the cleanliness and hygienic standards across the country. Akua Akyaa Nkrumah is just one of the few Ghanian gems we aim to highlight during our Women’s History Month campaign!
