As part of Yayra-Si Youth Foundation (YSYF)’s Shai Osu-doku Teenage Pregnancy Initiative (SOTPI), we have translated Emmeline May and Blue Seat Studios’ “Tea Consent Video” into Twi and Dangbe, both common dialects in Ghana.
Although English is widely spoken across the country, translating the video to Twi allows its message to reach a wider Ghanaian audience.
This video aims to increase awareness around sexual consent, especially in the Ghanaian community of Doryumu which has a high prevalence of teenage pregnancy. It is paramount that young girls, women, and youth know they have the right to refuse non-consensual sexual interactions.
Consent is a continuous process of learning, listening, and practice.
